Quarantine workout getting a little boring? We may have the answer.
Suffering from a little treadmill fatigue? We feel you. Thankfully for those days when you just can’t face another quarantine treadmill workout, we have the answer. Indoor surfing.
As travel restrictions have gradually tightened this week, the rapidly-expanding virtual travel sector continues to offer solace. This week brings a fresh round of online, livestream and virtual travel alternatives from some unexpected corners, including indoor surfing lessons and livestream yoga classes direct from the Indonesian island of Sumba.
Around five hundred kilometres off the coast of Bali, the island of Sumba is known around the world as a surfing hotspot. It is home to incredible waves, breathtaking beaches, secluded waterfalls and awe-inspiring animal experiences, as well as the Nihi Sumba resort.
Comprised of 28 uniquely designed villas, each with their own private pool, Nihi Sumba is ideally situated just footsteps from the surfer-favourite Nihiwatu Beach. The five star hotel is one of Indonesia’s best kept secrets, and now, they’re offering a weekly indoor surfing bootcamp, livestream meditations, yoga and cocktail-making classes to help bring a smile to the faces of quarantined travellers worldwide.
The resort will livestream their indoor surfing bootcamp every Saturday. The classes are hosted by local surfing legends Tun and Guilia. You’ll learn simple indoor drills that will strengthen your core, legs and back, so you’re ready to hop the first post-pandemic wave you see.
The resort is also offering livestream meditations, yoga and cocktail classes with some of their best and brightest. Get your daily dose of zen on Mondays with a livestream restorative sound meditation, led by the hotel’s certified holistic health coach Hendra Lim. Get your flow on with a livestream vinyasa flow yoga class on Wednesdays. And on Fridays you can kick back with a cocktail as their professional mixologist teaches you a new recipe.
